Rug sizing made simple

In living rooms, aim for front legs of sofas and chairs to rest on the rug so the seating group feels connected.

Under dining tables, leave about 24 inches beyond the table edge so chairs still sit on the rug when pulled out.

For bedrooms, place a larger rug under the lower two thirds of the bed, or use runners along each side for a softer landing.
